Lilith in the Abrahamic Religions

Lilith in the Abrahamic Religions

The First Wife of Adam, Lilith, is well known throughout Mesopotamia.  Many credit her as the progenitor of the succubus due to the belief that her character has been derived from an earlier class of female demons found on pre Semitic texts.  Her popularity in the Jewish folklore eclipses her standing in the surviving Sumerian, Akkadian, Assyrian and Babylonian text even though that’s where it originated.   The information concerning her origins, though copied from the Sumerian text, can be found in apocryphal texts such as the “Songs of the Sage,” and the Alphabet of Ben Sira.  The KJV makes a brief mention of her in the Book of Isaiah 34:14.

Lilith is known in “the Songs of the Sage,” which is a manuscript of Jewish magical texts of incantations and exorcism specifically for the protection against a list of demons and yes “Lady Night Crawler” is on that list. The Songs of the Sage text is a narration by “The Instructor” regarding the world that is populated with evil angels under the power of Belial who is the leader of the Sons of Darkness.   It states, “ And I, the Instructor, proclaim his glorious splendor so as to frighten and to terrify all the spirits, destroying angels, all the spirits of the destroying angels, spirits of the bastards, demons, Lilith, howlers and [desert dwellers…] and those which fall upon men without warning to lead them astray from the spirit of understanding and to make their heart and their […] desolate during the present dominion of wickedness and predetermined time of humiliations for the sons of light, by the guilt of the ages of [those] smitten by iniquity – not for eternal destruction, but for an era of humiliation for transgression.”

The Alphabet of Ben Sira, son of Jeremiah, also speaks of Lilith.   The text is best known for its Lilith reference which is the fifth response of Ben Sira, son of Jeremiah.   According to the folklore, When God created Adam and Lilith, they began to fight immediately.  She said, “I will not lie below” and he said, “I will not lie beneath you, but only on top for you are fit only to be in the bottom position, while I am to be the superior one.” Lilith responded, “We are equal to each other inasmuch as we were both created from the earth.” Because of the superiority complex of Adam, Lilith called out the Ineffable Name and flew away into the air.  Adam stood in prayer before his Creator: 'Sovereign of the universe!' he said, 'the woman you gave me has run away.' At once, the Holy One, blessed be He, sent these three angels to bring her back.  The sovereign ruler said, 'If she agrees to come back, what is made is good. If not, she must permit one hundred of her children to die every day.' The angels left God and pursued Lilith, whom they overtook in the midst of the Red Sea.  They told her God's word, but she did not wish to return. The angels said, 'We shall drown you in the sea.' "'Leave me!' she said. ‘I was created only to cause sickness to infants. If the infant is male, I have dominion over him for eight days after his birth, and if female, for twenty days.'  Why was Lilith created to harm infants?  Wasn’t she supposed to be created with Adam?  If she was created for evil purposes, why was she married to Adam?  These are important questions that should be addressed in order to gain wisdom that has been lost through time.   Now when the angels heard Lilith's words, they insisted she go back. But she swore to them by the name of the living and eternal God: 'Whenever I see you or your names or your forms in an amulet, I will have no power over that infant.' She also agreed to have one hundred of her children die every day. Accordingly, every day one hundred demons perish, and for the same reason, we write the angels names on the amulets of young children. When Lilith sees their names, she remembers her oath, and the child recovers."

In the KJV bible, the only reference of her is in the Book of Isaiah 34:14 which describe the misery of Edom.  The Hebrew word lilit (or lilith) appears in a list of eight unclean animals which may have demonic associations.  The book of Isaiah states, “Her nobles shall be no more, nor shall kings be proclaimed there; al her princes are gone.  Her castles shall be overgrown with thorns, her fortresses with thistles and briers.  She shall become an abode for jackals and a haunt for ostriches.  Wildcats shall meet with desert beasts, satyrs shall call to one another; There shall the Lilith repose, and find for herself a place to rest.  There the hoot owl shall nest and lay eggs, hatch them out and gather them in her shadow; there shall the kites assemble, none shall be missing its mate.  Look in the book of the LORD and read: No one of these shall be lacking, for the mouth of the Lord has ordered it, and His spirit shall gather them there.  It is He who casts the lot for them, and with His hands He marks off their shares of her; they shall possess her forever, and dwell there from generation to generation.”   It’s basically referring to her in a fallen state.

The character Lilith is seen both as good and bad.  In modern times, she is seen as a progenitor of feminism; A woman that didn’t bow down to the male dominant personalities in her time.  There is even a female band named “Lilith.”  How she is portrayed, is in the eyes of the beholder.  Either way, her name lives on through the ages as the First wife of Adam, Champion of feminism or Progenitor of the Succubus.

Lilith - Who is Lilith?

Lilith is quite the popular gal in the Middle East.  Her name has echoed throughout the Mesopotamia area for over 4,000 years.  Her origins lie in Babylonian demonology, where amulets and incantations were used to counter her evil spirit who preyed on pregnant women and children.  In Hebrew and Arabic she is known as Lilit and in Akkadian Lilitu.  The pre Semetic wood is L-Y-L which literally translates to a nocturnal female demon. The root word is used when referring to any female night demon.   The Sumerians first associated Lilith or Lilituas a class of wind/storm demons or spirits.  A good reference is NIN.LIL or “lady air,” goddess of the South Wind or wife of Enlil. In Jewish folklore, she is known as the night demon.  Lilith had an encounter with the mighty Gilgamesh.  Their story is found in the epic of Gilgamesh entitled Gilgamesh and the Huluppu Tree.  Basically, Lilith is one of the creatures who haunts the Huluppu tree which is in the holy garden of the gods.  At the foot of the tree lies a snake and at the top is a bird.  Lilith and her compadres try to scare the goddess Inanna who is unable to approach the tree.  Gilgamesh, the mighty hero killed the snake and scared the other creatures from out of the tree and garden for Inanna.

Lilith was also known as the first wife of Adam.  Even in the book of the Generations of Adam, Chapter 4 makes a brief reference to Lilith as Adam’s wife that produced or acquired Cain. Another reference of Lilith is also found in the Testament of Solomon.  She is known as Obizuth who is the demoness responsible for strangling unprotected children in childbirth.  The wise King Solomon stripped away her powers and then had her hung in front of the Temple for all to see.

Sons of God

Sons of God

The Sons of “God” can be a rather controversial term reason being who or which god?  Even though the Abrahamic Religions preach a “singular” deity, if you really read the texts and gain an understanding of them, you will realize that they are referring to more than one “God.” Elohim is plural for god, which means the Gods. Who or what is God?  Technically, it is what (or who) you make of it.  The “God” of the Abrahamic religions is supposedly a benevolent “God” however, in the Old Testament, he is anything but.  Why do we hold him in such high regard?  Probably because we are told to! So let’s break down the “God” of Abraham.  Yahweh (Jews), Jehovah (Christians), Allah (Muslims) is the same person.  The Pentateuch (the first 5 books of the bible), is accepted by all 3 religions.  Each one says that they are the “right” one, but according to Jesus/Yeshua/Issa, they are all wrong.  Why?  Because Yeshua stated that the kingdom of God is within you.  Maybe that should bring some new meaning to the words Moshe (Biblical Moses) heard from the burning bush, “I am that I am.”  That is possibly one of the most important phrases anyone could hear.  “I am that I am” basically means that I am that!  The “I am” is in you.  Meditate on the “I am.” Know thyself.  This is what Yeshua preached.  This is why he was crucified, because he came to shake up the very core of everyone’s belief.  He didn’t preach hate but love.  He didn’t pit one against the other but encouraged everyone to live in peace and respect each other.  “Let him without sin cast the first stone!”  He didn’t instigate wars or tested his people (as Yahweh the Demiurge did), but he preached love.

All things are possible thru Christ.  And just an FYI when I refer to Jesus/Yeshua, I am not speaking of Cesar Borgias, lover of Leonardo di Vinci who immortalized him.  I am speaking of the Essene, the mighty Nazarene whose name has been tarnished by the same people and their descendants of who he referred to their synagogue as a “Den of Thieves.”  Yeshua was strong, not a feeble being.  He came to earth to upset the current teachings at the time.  He rejected the false teachings and was arrested and then crucified for spreading the true gospel.  The Gnostic gospels preach a different story than the mainstream teachings which sounds more logical.

In the Old Testament, Yahweh, had sacrifices made in his name.  He rejected Cain’s ground provisions (that didn’t require blood or killing) and accepted the first animals to be sacrificed from Abel.  He tested Abraham by encouraging him to sacrifice his son, yet he condemns the Canaanites for idol worship and children sacrifices.  He conquered Canaan, (modern day Palestine) and warned “his people” to stay away from the Canaanites.  When a tower was been built, he confused the languages.  Yahweh was more at keeping people separated than encouraging his people to help one another.  Is it safe to say that the “God” of the Old Testament is NOT the father of Yeshua?  Absolutely!  Yeshua sacrificed himself for us.  Yet Yahweh liked the sacrifice of animals and required the 1st born of everything to be given to him.  If he is the creator of All, why does he need sacrifices, why does he have a “chosen” people?  As parents, do you have favorites?

The Pentateuch states Cain to be evil and very little has being said about him and his offsprings in the bible except bad things.  Yet it was the “Children of God” that saw the daughters of Men (Cain’s children) and took wives and showed them the secrets of heaven.  The Children of God are actually the Children of Seth!  Yes! The children of Seth were/are the watchers.  For example, one of the chief watchers that fell to earth name is Barakiel (he taught astrology).  He is the son of Enos and Naom, who were the children of Seth, Jubilees 4:15.  Danel was also a chief watcher that fell to earth; he was the brother of Jared, Enoch’s father. The funny thing is that if you read the book of Enki, it speaks of the Annunaki (the “Sumerian “gods” of Earth) and the Igigi (the “gods” on Mars) interbreeding with the Earthlings.

So it is safe to say that the children of Seth corrupted the children of Cain.  Remember according to the “Holy” Bible Cain was cast to live IN the earth!  WE should understand that nothing is new under the sun.  Just as today we have the majority of our “Leaders” spreading propaganda to reassert their agenda, the same thing happened in the ancient and antediluvian times.  There is a reason that the majority of “Lost Books” were left out of the canonized bible.  Those “Lost Books” will give us our true heritage and we could break the bounds of organized religions that have done nothing but cause corruption and bloodshed.  Whatever your beliefs are, just read ancient history. The truth is out there.  It is just for us to grab hold of it.
